Private vehicle – as there’s a proper road now all the way to the village, this would be the most convenient form of travel. Our home stay location is marked on Google map and openstreet maps (maps.me app) and you can follow the directions. Even small cars like Maruti 800 can easily reach the village. You can first drive to Dharamsala and then head for Ghera, from where there is only one road that leads to Kareri Village. Approx distance from Dharamsala to Kareri is 28 km.

Public Transport – take a bus to Dharamsala bus stand and then local bus to Ghera. There are four buses in a day from Dharamsala to Ghera at 8am, 1pm, 3pm, and 6pm. The boarding point is on the road outside the bus stand. From Ghera you can either hike up to Kareri through a well marked trail. Takes around 2.5 hours and gains 450m. Or you might be able to catch a local jeep to Kareri. Another option would be to hire a small taxi from Dharamsala bus stand to Kareri, they charge around 1500 – 1800 rupees.

By flight – there are daily Air India and Spicejet flights from Delhi to Gaggal airport (Dharamsala) and from the airport you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Dharamsala or taxi directly to Kareri.
